A Little Girl's Rite of Passage

This weekend, Madeline and mommy took a special shopping trip.  We came home with one black leotard, a pair of pink tights, a tiny pair of ballet slippers and a pair of shiny new tap shoes.  Yesterday, Madeline had her first dance class!

She's been talking about dance class for quite some time now.  Pretending to go to dance class, sending her animals to dance, pretending to be the dance teacher... so she was super excited when we told her she could start taking dance classes.  We found a studio very close to home which offers a 3-4 year old combination ballet, tumbling and tap class.

There were only two other girls in her class, and they were both having their first dance class, too.  I didn't feel so foolish snapping tons of photos, as both of the other moms came armed with their cameras, too.  I guess there is something special about a little girl's first dance class!

She loved it every bit we thought she would and proclaimed that tumbling was her favorite.  We'll see how the year progresses!
