2 months old

Today, Olivia is celebrating her 2 month birthday in Montana

Here are her new developments, accomplishments and milestones for her 2nd month.

She has discovered her hands and loves chewing on them.
She tolerates tummy time and has pretty good control of her head
She met Grandma and Grandpa James for the first time
Look at me, I'm bigger than the cat!
She's giving us lots of smiles these days.
I love to smile!
Her favorite chore is laundry.  She is super happy when surrounded by a warm pile of clean clothes.
Second favorite chore, waking up big sister in the morning
Check out her double dimples!

Comparing Olivia and the portrait of Olivia in the background, drawn by Madeline.  I see a bit of a resemblance!
She went for her first swim!
She had her 2 month check-up complete with multiple shots on Wed Aug 22.  Her stats: 23 inches long (82%), 11lbs 13oz (83%), FOC 15.25 inches
She went on her first airplane trip one day before her 2nd month birthday, and can now claim she can now add MT to the list of her visited states
All that activity makes for a sleepy baby!

Sure hard to believe she's 2 months old already!!

Olivia's First Dip in the Pool

It appears we have another baby who loves the water!  The conditions were just right for Olivia's pool introduction this afternoon...nice cloud cover, rested baby, and warm water made for a successful first swim!
"Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"I guess it should be okay if big sister says so!"
Here we go!
She was so relaxed, she could have just napped in the pool!
Big sister and her monkey!
Practicing swimming across the pool on her back

"I think you splashed a little bit of water in my eyes, daddy!"
Luckily we should still have plenty of warm weekends where we can all enjoy the pool!

Olivia Meets Grandpa and Grandma James

We had a fun weekend with Grandma and Grandpa James in town.  We ate some good meals, visited the dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum, spent time in the pool and enjoyed their company.

Olivia enjoyed her Grandma snuggles and fell fast asleep
Grandpa made a special gift for the girls, and Madeline was so excited to discover these blocks on her shelf.  Little does she know that this box represents only ~25% of the blocks.  The others are hidden away while she hones her architectural and engineering skills.
Building towers with Grandpa (or this could be read as Grandpa builds, Madeline knocks down!)

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for making the long trek out to see us.  The girls had so much fun playing with you!

Funny Faces

Madeline has a song that goes, "Funny faces, funny faces, when I'm silly I make a funny face."  I was thinking of this song when I was looking through all of the latest Olivia pictures.  So, here are her funny faces...
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do here"
"I'm not real sure I understand what you are saying"
Being a baby is exhausting work
This is my "I stuck my finger in a light socket" look
I surrender
Do you think I have a big tongue?
Oh yeah, well check this out!
Do you think this pose makes me look chubby?
Oh no, I thought so!!
Check out my dimples
Here are some other fun shots from the past few weeks
Mama and her girls
Matching sisters
Sister tummy time on their Grandma quilts

In other news, I was finally able to finish Olivia's room.  I am so happy with how it turned out and hope she can enjoy it for years to come.  One wall has world landmarks and the opposite wall a map of the world.  Here's hoping that we can all explore the world together!

And finally, Madeline had her 3 year old check-up today.  She weighed in at 31 lbs (50% percentile) and stood a tall 3'3" (90% percentile).
