4th Annual Crawfish Boil....Success!

We hosted our 4th Annual Crawfish Boil this afternoon. We had beautiful weather and I think fun was had by all.

Most important ingredient (after the crawfish)

Master Chef!

Madeline's new pet!

The feast...ready to eat!

"That's not a crawfish, that's a lobster!"

Lots of kiddos for playtime

This big guy is only a week older than Madeline. He certainly made Madeline look petite!

As always we had way too many crawfish! Doggie bags to go...

Anyone for badminton?

Just need to double check the rules!

Practicing my forehand.

9 Months

I was finally able to get some shots of her smiling! Here she is at 9 months old:

Shy little smile

9 month birthday kisses from Cooper

Here's what she's been up to this month:
Some of her favorites....
...bananas:

...chasing after the animals:

...the dog kennel (we wish she could teach Cooper to love it!)

....books including this new talking storybook she received from Mike & Irma

....and this picture book

...and any book she can chew on!

Her Easter balloon became a lot of fun once it was nearly deflated (she was pretty scared of it until then).

Once she could grab it and make it crinkle it was a blast! The balloon had to be retired shortly after this :)

She loves feeding Cooper her puffs after each meal and Cooper had learned to patiently wait near her high chair!

And some firsts for this month....
She had her first Easter

...and her first wildflower photo session

She got her first little goose egg above her left eye. She fell at daycare while trying to use a push toy.

She received her first promotion and was moved up into the next classroom at daycare.

This is not the greatest photo, but I wanted to post it, as I think it is so cute. I was letting her explore these two stairs leading out of our kitchen and she plopped herself down in the corner, which is just barely big enough for her little baby bum to fit. She wedged herself in there and needed help getting out. I love her little expression!

Here she is sporting her new sunglasses getting ready for our upcoming trip to Hawaii! We leave a week from today and we're so excited for a little R&R. We can't wait to let her splash in a pool again!

Her 9th month has been so much fun as she is more mobile and inquisitive about everything. She certainly keeps us on our toes!

9 month stats

Madeline had her 9 month check-up this morning. Here are her stats:

Height: 27"
Weight 14 lb 1 oz
FOC:17"

She has now 'fallen off' the chart for weight, but the doctor remains unconcerned and says she is still growing and healthy. She attributes her slow weight gain to her huge energy level and the fact that she is constantly in motion. You can see her little buddha belly in the picture above and I don't think she looks too skinny, so we'll just keep doing what we're doing!

She had a great time playing with the paper on the exam table--it was a mess by the time we left!

Bluebonnets are here!

We've had a fairly rainy winter and spring which has made for a wonderful wildflower season. We had great plans to pack a picnic and head north of town for a day of fun, but we've all been a bit under the weather this weekend so we settled for plan B. Luckily, we were able to catch some great wildflower patches right in the city. Madeline was much more interested in inspecting the flowers and her surroundings than in smiling, but we were still able to get some cute shots.

The Easter Bunny was here!

Happy Easter!

We have had a fun filled Easter Day and Madeline was sufficiently spoiled on her first Easter.

Here is a picture account of our day:

The Easter Bunny left his ears behind
I think she makes a pretty cute Easter Bunny!
Here I am with my Easter basket! I had a lot of fun pulling out all of the goodies.
(Disclaimer...yes, my Easter basket had candy in it. The Easter Bunny 'forgot' that I was only a baby, but never fear, Mom and Dad have kindly offered to take care of it for me!)

(You should be able to click this image to see it better)

My very first balloon!
After the Easter Basket fun, she had two packages to open from her Grandparents:

Pull out the tissue to see what's inside....

Look, a cute little chick was hiding in there!Awww, I think I like him!

Lots of ribbons on this oneHmmmm, now what?
This looks like a job for my trusty Leatherman!
Yay! More tissue and cute summer outfits inside...
...and books, too!Happy Easter baby!!

We were invited to brunch and were asked to bring dessert, as they know they are my favorite to make. I tried out two new recipes and (if I can say so) I think they turned out super yummy!
With Irma at brunch
Happy girl!
Family photo (Boy, we sure look tired...we had a rough night last night! Someone must have been too excited for the Easter Bunny because she did not want to sleep!)

Thanks to the grandparents for all the special cards and gifts!!
