She smiled!

I thought Madeline smiled at me on Friday, but couldn't be sure....

Then, I thought she smiled at me again on Sunday, but wondered if I was just misinterpreting her expressions....

This morning, I KNOW she smiled at me-it just about melted my heart! She was so happy and cute and I even managed to capture a few of these first smiles on photo. They're not the best pictures, but isn't that about the most precious smile you have ever seen?

One month old!

It is hard to believe that she is one month old today!
She weighed in at 7lbs 12 oz today.

Here are some pictures of things she learned this month:

I can make eye contact demonstrated here with my llama.

As of last week, I can drink from a bottle, too!

Walks are fun..

..so are baths!

You feel warm and cuddly after baths.

You can sleep lots of places, like in the swing,

on the couch,

and on daddy.

I can intertwine my fingers.

I can lift my head.

These are just a few of my accomplishments this month. I can't wait to see what will happen in my second month!

Visitors

Madeline got to meet her Grandma Kay and Grandpa Marv over the weekend. Madeline had some great naps on Grandpa and enjoyed lots of snuggles from Grandma. We took Madeline out to eat a number of times and she was a little angel each time and slept through most of the meal! Thanks for visiting, Marv and Kay, and for helping out with Madeline!

Grandparents

Grandma and Grandpa Handl had to head back to MT on Monday. We hated to see them leave, but we sure enjoyed having them here and having extra hands around the house was a huge help! Madeline got all sorts of love and snuggles from the proud new grandparents. Below are some pics from their visit.

On another note, Grandma and Granddad James are on their way to visit now. Stay tuned for pics from their visit.

First Bath

Madeline's umbilical cord stump finally fell off on Saturday, so we were able to give her her first bath on Sunday. As you can see from the pictures, she didn't much care for it. Hopefully that will change soon :)

Professional photos

While I was pregnant I came across a photographer's website that indicated they were looking for someone to model for some maternity photos. Out of curiosity, and as a way to pass the time, I contacted the photographer to get more info. Turns out she specializes in weddings and children's photography but is interested in doing more maternity and infant photography. She wanted someone to model for her while she tried out some new techniques. I offered to help her out and she came out to the house to shoot some photos. You can check out the finished images here:

I was so impressed by her talents and the final pictures that I couldn't resist having her come back to take some newborn photos of Madeline. She came out and was so patient with Madeline. She has such a creative and detail oriented eye and got some fantastic photos of Madeline at 7 days old as well as some great family photos. I think you'll agree that Madeline is just too cute for words!

Thanks to Kasey at Monkey Tree photography for capturing these precious moments for us. She keeps a blog of all of her photography-you can check it out at the link below. Both Madeline and I made the blog-check out the posts on Sunday Aug 9 and Tue July 21.

Take me out to the ball game...

Grandma and Grandpa Handl are still in town and wanted to catch an Astros game while they were in Houston. We headed to Minute Maid Field for Madeline's first baseball game on Friday night - Astros vs Brewers and the Astros won. Here are some pictures to chronicle the evening.

This is what Madeline did for most of the game...

Two cute pictures of her from today...

She's already two weeks old!

Sue's visit

Madeline's Aunt Sue came for a visit this past weekend. Madeline had a fun time getting to know her Aunt and we all had fun catching up. Thanks for stopping by, Sue!
