Photos from Target

We took Madeline into Target almost a month ago to have 7 month photos taken. The first attempt didn't go too well as it was a chore getting her to smile. Turns out that was the weekend she was teething...no wonder she didn't want to smile. They let us come back in to get some other shots a few days later.

I just got around to picking them up today, so here are a few of the better ones.

Spring has sprung!

Our peach tree is in full bloom

With all these buds, maybe we'll get some juicy blueberries out of this bush!

Surprisingly, some of the flowers survived. We actually had a number of hard frosts for TX this year. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the lime tree fared quite as well...big bummer as it just started producing super tasty limes last year :(

With the beautiful weather, the kids are begging, "Mommy, can we go out and play?"

And, just for fun....our monkey faced mohawk baby

Hope spring is making its appearance in your neck of the woods!

Happy 8 Month Birthday, Madeline!

Here she is at 8 months old!

Today, she weighed in at 14 lbs 10 oz according to Grandpa Marv's baby scale. She fits perfectly into her 6 month clothes and is still in size 1 diapers.

Here's a recap of the past month. She has had a lot of 'firsts' this month and has learned so much!

-Attended her first Rodeo BBQ festivities

-One of her favorite things is pulling all of her books off of her bookshelf.

-She started using a sippy cup and we're working on finger foods. It's funny, as everything she picks up, she puts into her mouth...that is, except for finger food. We're still trying to convinve her that finger foods are fun! She has discovered that she can drop things from her highchair and that Cooper will eat them, and that is much more fun that actually eating the food!

-Our own little Linus, sleeps with her little blanky, Brian caught this cute photo of her hugging said blanky!

-First time playing at the beach

-First time in a swimming pool

-First playground experience

-She's crawling almost exclusively now.

-She can pull herself up to a stand

-She started waving this week

-We made it through another round of fever, sniffles and colds.

-She has developed what we lovingly call the 'monkey face' where she sticks her little tongue out and holds it between her lips. This mostly happens when she is concentrating on something. Since this is her new signature look, I thought it fitting to create the '8th Month Monkey Face Collage'

-She's a happy girl when she gets to play with her toys and can occupy herself for much longer periods of time.

It seems that each day she just gets more and more fun as she learns new things and interacts further! I'm sure there are great things in store for month #9!

Miami

Mommy had a weekend conference in Miami so she invited daddy and I to tag along. We had so much fun. I want to tell you about my favorite parts of the trip.

I got to go swimming for the very first time. Swimming is so much fun and I got so excited in the water that I kicked my little legs. Mommy and daddy kept calling me a little fish.

I was pretty brave. I put my mouth in and blew some bubbles...

..I attempted to crawl right into the pool

...and I even let them dunk me without crying! I love the water!

After swimming I got all dried off and we got to stay outside! It was perfect, because I love being outside.

I don't know why, but swimming made me awfully tired, so I took a lot of naps by the pool.

We went to the beach and I got to dip my toes in the ocean. It was really cold and I didn't really think it was too fun.

I much prefer playing in the sand.

Our hotel room had a great big bed with lots of fluffy pillows. When mommy was working, daddy set up obstacle courses for me and I loved crawling over the top of all the pillows.

Peek-a-boo!

I helped mommy by reminding her to take her badge to the meetings.

When mommy went to her meetings, daddy and I set out to explore Key Biscayne. I slept during most of the exploration. This is me in front of the fire station.

This is me at the main entrance to the hotel.

And this is me, still sound asleep when we returned from our adventures.

We also got to go to this place called a playground. I have never been to one before, but after I had such a great time, I think dad and mom may try to find a good one for me in Houston. I got to ride up high on the swings.

Then I got to go down the slide....

...whoooosh, I went fast!

And finally I got to ride on the bouncy seal. It really made me smile!

Miami was so much fun. I think mommy should take me on business trips all the time. She tells me that they aren't always this much fun!
